The current situation in Winnipeg involves a very low vacancy rate, a lack of new rental units, and many newcomers arriving every year. Winnipeg is proud to be the new home for so many newcomers. We take pride in our ethnic diversity and welcome people from every culture as they settle in this city. However, we understand that there are ongoing challenges involved with finding a place to call home in Winnipeg.

New Journey Housing will support and train newcomers to Winnipeg as they search for a home to rent or purchase.  New Journey Housing does not actually provide housing for our clients, but our clients are supported and trained so that they are able to search for, attain and retain decent, affordable housing.

New Journey Housing also hopes to make more connections between newcomers and established Canadian volunteers. Volunteers will have the opportunity to be a welcoming and helpful contacts for the newcomers, as well as sharing their local knowledge of living in Winnipeg and being a tenant or homeowner. Many established Canadians take this information for granted. However, it is valuable information for newcomers as they adjust to life in Canada.
