Clients & Services

Who are our Clients?

The focus of New Journey Housing is on newcomers, regardless of their immigration status or arrival date in Canada. We also serve as a resource centre for those who sponsor, support and house newcomers, such as landlords, caretakers, settlement workers, private sponsors, service agencies and family members.

New Journey Housing defines "Newcomer" as anyone who has recently moved to Canada.  If you see yourself as a Newcomer, you are welcome to utilize our resources and training as sources of support as you search for a home.

If you are a Newcomer who is searching for a home, you are invited to register as a client with New Journey Housing.  We provide support and training to Newcomers, in their search for decent, affordable housing.  This includes both the Rental Counselling Program and the Home Ownership Counselling Program.

If you would like to register as a Client with New Journey Housing, please contact us.

For clients planning to move to Winnipeg! Please read below:

It is easiest to find a place to live once you have actually arrived here in Winnipeg. However, it is good to have as much information as possible, even before you arrive!

Our suggestion is to find TEMPORARY accommodation (ie: a hostel) and make a reservation for when you first arrive. This is something that you should do on your own. We are unable to make reservations on your behalf.

Once you are already here, you can search for a rented apartment or rented house. We would be happy to teach you more about these processes once you are already in Winnipeg. Please note that we have heard of some scams in which people are cheated out of their money in the process of trying to secure a rental accommodation BEFORE arriving. It is easier and safer to secure a rental accommodation once you are already in Winnipeg.

Some websites you can look at for housing are:

www.kijiji.com

www.winnipegrentnet.ca

www.rentcanada.com

If you want to look at how much houses cost to purchase here in Winnipeg (as well as any location in Canada), look at this website:
